Who are Keys Auto Glass?

Keys Auto Glass is a locally owned business based in the Canberra region. Our head technician, Terry, has been replacing, repairing and tinting car windows for 15 years.

How long does it take to replace my windscreen? After having my windscreen replaced, how long until I can drive my vehicle?

Typically, replacing a car window takes anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes. Fortunately, modern adhesive technology means that once the replacement has been completed, you need only wait an hour before it's safe to drive your vehicle.

Can you come to my home or work?

Absolutely. Weather permitting, and thanks to some great portable tools, we can replace almost any window in your driveway or work car park.

How do I know if my windscreen can be repaired, or if it needs to be replaced?

Generally speaking, a windscreen can only have minor damage to the half in front of the driver. Hairline cracks can't be longer than 30mm, cracks from the edge can't be longer than 75mm and bullseye cracks (standard chips) can't be wider than 16mm in diameter.

What is the darkest legal tint in NSW and the ACT?

In both NSW and the ACT, the darkest legal tint for passenger vehicles is 35%. Windscreens cannot be tinted, with the exception of a tint band across the top. Commercial vehicles can have darker tint in certain circumstances.

Can you also tint my home or office windows?

Yes! Here at Keys Auto Glass we're able to tint and frost flat glass as well.
